My first children's book available now
Based on my experiences as a foster sibling, this story of two best friends is close to my heart. My goal is to encourage conversations between parents and children about love and grief, and how to appreciate the time you have with someone dear to you.
My debut children's book, Meatball and Birdie, is a story about the love and loss encountered in many foster situations, yet rarely spoken about. It's written from the perspective of a foster sibling and inspired by all of the children my family has cared for, but by one little boy in particular. The characters, portrayed by a dog and a bird, demonstrate the sacrificial love and strong bond that is formed by many foster siblings. Foster care is a complicated topic fraught with many emotions, but one of my goals was to simplify the subject matter in a way that young children might relate to the characters and learn about the benefits of caring for the vulnerable. I hope that this book will spark conversations about how to practically meet the needs of another, and how love continues to carry us, even when a special person is no longer near.

By ordering a softcover copy of Meatball and Birdie when it is released on October 12, 2022, you will be helping me present this message to the world while contributing to the well-being of the children who are worthy of love and a safe place to grow and thrive. If you or someone you know might be interested in my book, please sign up for my email list to be notified first when the book is published, and also to receive periodical insight into the story and it's progress. Additionally, my Instagram @ElleFoxArt will feature my perspective of this whole process.

For every book sold, 50 cents will be donated to a foster organization that works to make foster care a better, safer, and more comfortable experience for the children in care. I hope that with your help, we can make an impact in the foster care community. Furthermore, I wish to spark desire in more potential foster parents to realize the same privilege that my family has known by giving love to incredible kids.
